Deborah Amberg Named ALLETE Vice President

Deborah Amberg Named ALLETE Vice PresidentDULUTH, Minn.--ALLETE, Inc. (NYSE: ALE) has named Deborah Amberg to the position of ALLETE vice president, general counsel and secretary. Amberg, 38, succeeds Phil Halverson, who retired March 5.

"Deb's expertise and skills are both extensive and comprehensive," said Don Shippar, ALLETE President and CEO. "She will provide excellent leadership as we proceed with ALLETE's future strategy."

Amberg joined ALLETE as a staff attorney in 1990 and was named senior attorney in 1998. Her responsibilities have included energy, environmental and employment law applied to a broad variety of areas within ALLETE's utility operations.

She is a graduate of Rosemount (Minn.) High School and received her Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Minnesota. She graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, from which she holds a Juris Doctor degree.

Amberg is a member of the American Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, Minnesota Women Lawyers, and is actively involved in a number of community service organizations.
